Cayetana Fernandez, Julia Lopez and Andrea Revuelta, three of the most outstanding amateur players of the prolific Spanish youth, will compete against the best golfers of the Ladies European Tour from 23rd to 26th November at the Real Club de Golf Las Brisas

Three of the most outstanding players of Spanish women’s amateur golf, Cayetana Fernández, Julia López and Andrea Revuelta, will have the opportunity to participate in the Andalucía Costa del Sol Open de España 2023, to be held at the end of November at the Real Club de Golf Las Brisas, in Marbella (Málaga).

These golfers represent the excellent future of Spanish women’s golf, not only for the number of trophies that already adorn their incipient resumes, but also for their position in the amateur world ranking, in which they rub shoulders with the best players on the planet.

Cayetana Fernández is currently in third position, very close to Sweden’s Ingrid Lindblad and Japan’s Baba Saki, while Julia López is in fifth position and Andrea Revuelta is in the thirty-third place.

In the specific case of Cayetana Fernández, she will return to the tournament where she dazzled the public just a year ago with her high level of play, but also with her sobriety and self-confidence.

The player of the Club de Campo Villa de Madrid even led the event played on that occasion at Alferini Golf and finished in a more than creditable fifth position shared with the English Alice Hewson and only behind great players like the winner, the Swedish Caroline Hedwall, Morgane Metraux, Linn Grant and Leona Maguire.

However, this was not her first participation in a professional tournament, as a few months earlier, Cayetana Fernandez showed her level at the RACE Golf Club on the occasion of the Ladies European Tour’s Comunidad de Madrid Ladies Open, where she finished in third position.

There is no doubt that 2022 was a spectacular year for the golfer from Madrid, as she won one of the most emblematic amateur tournaments of the Spanish calendar such as the Copa de SM La Reina and won the World Junior Girl’s Championship, both team and individual, the World Junior Women’s Team Championship and the Spanish FFAA Absolute Women’s Championship.

In this 2023, Cayetana Fernandez has begun her studies at the University of Texas, USA, but still has repeated victory in the Spanish Championship of Autonomous Federations and has added to her record the Vagliano Trophy, the European Absolute Women’s Team Championship and the Patky Hankins Trophy, as well as the bronze medal in the recent World Amateur Women’s Team Championship and second place in the individual section.

Following Cayetana Fernandez and completing the magnificent Spanish amateur group, will be in the Real Club de Golf Las Brisas Julia Lopez and Andrea Revuelta.

For the player from Malaga, this Andalucía Costa del Sol Open de España will be a very special tournament, as the young player was born in the town of Benahavís and will certainly have the unconditional support of her family and friends during the week.

This year, Julia Lopez has continued to add to her record with victories in the SEC Women’s Championship NCAA, the Vagliano Trophy, the European Women’s Team Championship, the European Women’s Individual Championship and the bronze medal in the World Amateur Women’s Team Championship, as well as making the cut and finishing in 72nd place in a Grand Slam tournament like the AIG Women’s Open.

As for the Madrilenian, she will arrive in Marbella after a great season in which she started by winning the Real Club de Golf Sotogrande Team Cup, followed by the victory in the Spanish Absolute Team Championship and the European Under 18 Women’s Team Championship, and put the icing on the cake with two victories in the PING Junior Solheim Cup and the Junior Ryder Cup.

Playing professional tournaments is not something new for Andrea Revuelta, as she has previously taken part in the Spanish Women’s Professional Championship in 2022, where she was second, and in this year’s La Sella Open, where she finished in sixteenth position.
