The prestigious Malaga tour hosts this relevant professional tournament for the second time in its history

Aloha Golf Club, in Nueva Andalucía (Marbella, Málaga), has been designated as the headquarters of the Andalusian Costa del Sol Open of Spain Women’s 2019, competition framed within the European Women’s Circuit that will take place between November 28 and December 1 with The main sponsorship of the Ministry of Tourism of the Junta de Andalucía, Tourism Costa del Sol and Acosol – Commonwealth of Municipalities of the Costa del Sol Occidental.
It is the second time in history that Aloha Golf Club hosts this relevant professional tournament. The first one took place in 2016 and concluded with the triumph of the Malaga-born Azahara Muñoz, who at that time became the first Spanish to add her name to the winners of the Women’s Spanish Open.
The choice of Aloha Golf Club, a field of recognized prestige, renews the commitment to quality that emanates from the Costa del Sol, one of the most important destinations in all of Europe, to the point that it responds perfectly to the motto coined in his day –Costa del Sol, Costa del Golf–, which has made this beautiful area of Spanish geography famous.
Additionally, in the framework of its relationship with the Costa del Sol, this will be the sixth time in history that this renowned international tourist destination assumes the celebration of an Open Women’s Spain after those played in Flamingos (2010), La Quinta (2011 and 2018), RCG Guadalmina (2017) and Aloha (2016 and 2019).
Aloha Golf Club, a great design by Javier Arana
Designed at the time by the prestigious Javier Arana – it was his last project before his death in 1975, shortly before the work in the field ended, so he can be considered his posthumous work, built by Garden & Golf -, Aloha Golf houses one of the most beautiful and unique golf courses in Spain.
Parkland style, par 72, its design demands at the same time precision on the tee and good approach to the green. An undulating terrain, colorful trees and lakes are, among other things, the peculiarities that Aloha Golf presents, as well as spectacular views of the Sierra La Concha and the Mediterranean Sea.
The seal of the designer Javier Arana was also reflected in the personal choice of the type of trees and plants that would populate the countryside, with the idea of being able to enjoy flowering trees at any time of the year.
Almost since its birth, in 1975, Aloha Golf has been closely linked to the world of high competition. In 1978 he hosted the Spanish Amateur Championship and in 1989 he held the II International Mixed Championship of Golf Professionals, in which Miguel Ángel Jiménez and Xonia Wunsch were winners.
Already in the present century, Aloha Golf hosted for three times the Open de Andalucía integrated into the European Tour. In 2007 he won the Englishman Lee Westwood after setting the field record with 64 strokes. Later, in 2008, the victory fell to the Ryder player Thomas Levet, while in 2012 the victory corresponded to Julien Quesne, with a final round of 8 under par, which, regardless of the first place, allowed him to match the field record.
