- The present and the future of Spanish women’s golf will meet at the Real Guadalhorce Club de Golf from 28th November to 1st December.
The Andalucía Costa del Sol Open de España presented by Oysho, which will take place from 28th November to 1st December at the Real Guadalhorce Club de Golf, will be the final round of the Ladies European Tour (LET) season and will have an outstanding representation of 17 Spanish players.
Carlota Ciganda will be the epicentre of the national representation. Tournament champion in 2021 at Los Naranjos and with four victories in the Solheim Cup, the Navarre native returns as the great reference of Spanish women’s golf, backed by a career that places her among the great names in the history of the sport in our country. Her experience in international competitions and her ability to shine at decisive moments make her the great national hope to fight for the title in Malaga.
Alongside her, the Spanish team will be led by other outstanding players such as Ana Peláez, who will compete as a local host supported by the Malaga fans; Fátima Fernández Cano, who arrives after securing her card on the American circuit; and Marta Martín, the only Spaniard to achieve a victory this year on the LET, thanks to her triumph at the Tipsport Czech Ladies Open. The Spaniard, ranked 16th on the European Tour Order of Merit, would need a top-3 finish to secure a place in the LPGA Q-Series Finals, while Maria Hernandez leads the Spanish team in the rankings with her current ninth position.
The national team also includes golfers with experience and success on the LET, such as Nuria Iturrioz and Carmen Alonso, both with titles on the circuit. They are joined by Luna Sobrón, triple Spanish champion, and top players such as Mireia Prat, Teresa Toscano, Harang Lee, Paz Marfá and Marta Sanz, all ready to face one of the most important challenges of the year.
In addition, María Herráez will compete in the tournament after securing her place as champion of the Santander Golf Tour 2024 annual ranking. Completing the Spanish representation are the young amateurs Andrea Revuelta, Paula Martín and Carla Bernat, who will be looking to win the Celia Barquín Award, an award that honours the memory of the Cantabrian golfer and is given to the best amateur of the tournament.
The Real Guadalhorce Club de Golf, known for its technical and challenging design, will be the perfect setting for this exciting event. Its blend of tradition, demand and modernity reinforce its status as one of the reference venues of the European circuit.
With Carlota Ciganda leading a talented national team that combines youth and experience, the Andalucía Costa del Sol Open de España presented by Oysho promises to be one of the most exciting events of the year and an ideal showcase to close a memorable season on the Ladies European Tour.
