- The Dutch player, winner of the Open in 2018 and 2019, will return to competition at a tournament with which she shares a very special connection.
- Pettersen, a two-time Major champion and one of the most iconic figures in European golf, will be another star attraction at La Cala Resort from November 26 to 29.
The Andalucía Costa del Sol Open de España presented by Oysho continues to assemble a world-class field for its 2026 edition. Anne Van Dam and Suzann Pettersen will be two of the biggest names competing from November 26 to 29 on the Campo Europa course at La Cala Resort, which will host the season finale of the Ladies European Tour.
Two prominent figures in European golf will add even greater appeal to an event that will once again bring together some of the tour’s leading players on the Costa del Sol, where the Ladies European Tour Order of Merit will be decided.
For Anne Van Dam, the tournament will hold particular significance. The Dutch player will return to an event with which she shares a special connection and whose list of champions features her name twice. She claimed back-to-back victories in 2018 and 2019, first at La Quinta Golf & Country Club and then at Aloha Golf Club, making her, alongside Carlota Ciganda and Azahara Muñoz, the joint most successful player in the tournament’s history, with two titles. Her special relationship with the championship was further demonstrated in 2023, when she finished runner-up at Real Club de Golf Las Brisas.
A five-time Ladies European Tour winner who has also represented the Netherlands at the Olympic Games, Van Dam will embark on a new chapter at La Cala Resort after becoming a mother. Her return will be particularly meaningful as it takes place at a tournament where she has achieved some of the finest results of her career.
«The Spanish Open has always been a very special tournament for me. Winning here twice is among my best memories as a professional, and I am really looking forward to coming back. After becoming a mother, returning to competition at a tournament with which I have such a special connection makes it even more exciting. And doing so in Andalusia and on the Costa del Sol, where I have always thoroughly enjoyed playing, is a fantastic way to return», says Van Dam.
The Dutch player will also arrive at La Cala having experienced one of the season’s biggest events from a different perspective. At the Solheim Cup at Bernardus, held in the Netherlands for the first time, she served as vice-captain to Anna Nordqvist as Team Europe reclaimed the trophy with a 15–13 victory over the United States. During the same week, Van Dam also captained the European team at the PING Junior Solheim Cup.
Following an unusual season for the Dutch player, the Andalucía Costa del Sol Open de España presented by Oysho will provide another opportunity to see her back inside the ropes at a championship she knows exceptionally well, where she will look to build on a remarkable record that already includes two victories and a runner-up finish.
Joining her at La Cala Resort will be Suzann Pettersen, one of the most prominent figures in European golf over the past few decades. The Norwegian built one of the most impressive records of her generation, with 15 LPGA Tour victories, seven Ladies European Tour titles and two Majors, the 2007 LPGA Championship and the 2013 Evian Championship. She also reached world number two in the Rolex Women’s World Golf Rankings.
Her participation will add a special attraction to an Open that will bring together different generations of Europe’s finest golfers. Pettersen also left an extraordinary legacy in the Solheim Cup, representing Europe on nine occasions as a player and producing one of the most memorable moments in the competition’s history when she holed the winning putt at Gleneagles in 2019 to secure victory for Europe.
The Norwegian subsequently extended her involvement in the competition as captain of the European team. At Finca Cortesín in 2023, on the Costa del Sol, she led Europe to retain the trophy following a thrilling 14–14 tie against the United States. A year later, she returned as captain for the 2024 edition in Virginia.
«I have very special memories of Spain. It is a place that means a great deal to me after everything we experienced at Finca Cortesín, and I am really looking forward to returning to compete in the Open. It will be fantastic to reunite with so many players, experience that competitive feeling once again and be part of a tournament with such a rich tradition in European golf», explains Pettersen.
The presence of Van Dam and Pettersen will further strengthen a field that will also feature some of the standout performers of the Ladies European Tour season. With the calendar entering its decisive stages, the battle for the Order of Merit will continue into the final events, with Casandra Alexander leading the standings ahead of Anna Huang, Kelsey Bennett, Alexandra Försterling and Agathe Laisne, following a season characterised by a wide variety of winners and strong performances from players across different generations.
The Campo Europa course at La Cala Resort will provide the stage for the season’s final showdown from November 26 to 29, when the Andalucía Costa del Sol Open de España presented by Oysho will once again bring the Ladies European Tour season to a close. A demanding venue will determine the new champion and conclude the season with a field that now includes two players who have secured their own places in European golf history: Anne Van Dam and Suzann Pettersen.
